History

45In 1948 Harold Slade of All Saints’ wrote: “The spire of the present All Saints’ Church has been pointing a finger heavenward for 41 years, reminding all who see it of the church’s mission to bring humanity to the knowledge of God, who reigns above.” Prior to Slade’s writing, as a mission chapel of Cronyn Memorial Church, All Saints’ had since 1887 been bringing people to the knowledge and love of God.

The spire of All Saints’ continues to remind people of God, whom it points heavenwards to. 128 years later since the first services were held at the corner of Adelaide St. & Hamilton Rd, All Saints’ Church has been a consistent symbol of hope to the whole community. We have continuously shared the good news of God made known to us in Christ. In doing so, All Saints’ has been the home to some eight generations of people who have come to the “Working Man’s Cathedral,” as All Saints was dubbed when its current building was built in 1906, to know God and to make him known in the lives of all.

That same ideal exists today. We invite all who come to All Saints’ to experience, live and tell not only of the lives of men and women who have proclaimed the Gospel in our church’s history, but to come and be part of the next generation who will know God and make Him known.
